Principal Photography For 'The Hunger Games' Franchise Concludes Today In Atlanta

(the stunning opening shot of Francis Lawrence's The Hunger Games: Catching Fire, filmed in Atlanta)

This is the start of how it all ends.... In a bittersweet moment for the cast, crew and fans all over the world, principal photography on Mockingjay - Part 2 ended today with the last day of shooting the epilogue sequence in Atlanta, with Jennifer Lawrence and Josh Hutcherson reprising their roles of Katniss Everdeen and Peeta Mellark respectively for the final time. Director Francis Lawrence and producer Nina Jacobson noted the end of filming with the following tweets:

While this isn't fully over just yet - with the remainder of post-production, Tuesday's first trailer and the marketing campaign building up to the film's release this November still to go - this is indeed a bittersweet moment for everyone involved.

We would like to take a moment and say a massive, massive thank you to our creative team - Francis, Nina, Jo, James, Peter, Danny, Alan, Ve, and many others; and of course our tremendous cast including Jen, Josh, Liam, Elizabeth, Woody, Sam, Jena, Jeffrey, Stanley and Donald, not to forget everyone at Lionsgate and Suzanne Collins herself for not just creating four wonderful book adaptations for fans to enjoy, but building one of the biggest and the best science fiction film franchises today, inspiring and captivating thousands of moviegoers across the world, as well as helping usher change in Hollywood too.
